Gorgeous Charlotte has just taken a huge and exciting step in her journey to forest freedom. And it’s all thanks to you!
Charlotte was rescued from a heartbreaking life in captivity. In 2021, our team found her chained and terrified, living under a house. She had no space to climb, no friends to play with, and no way to be the orangutan she was meant to be.
She was only four years old, and she had already been through so much. Charlotte was scared– of humans, other orangutans, of everything. But with love, care, and your generous support, things began to change.
Charlotte's rescue from a life of captivity.
At our BORA Rescue Centre, Charlotte started Jungle School. It took time, but slowly, she found her courage. She began to explore, play, and make friends. Bit by bit, she’s turned into a cheeky, playful, and brave young orangutan.
And now, Charlotte is ready for her next big chapter!

Thanks to you, she has just moved to a beautiful forested pre-release island. This is a big step toward true forest freedom. Here, she’ll practice her jungle survival skills–like climbing, foraging for food, and building nests.
Charlotte still prefers making nests on the ground, but our team is watching over her and cheering her on. With more time and practice, we’re hopeful she’ll start nesting up high in the trees where it’s safer and cosier.
Charlotte’s very first moments as she arrives at the pre-release island and swings into the trees!
We are so proud of how far Charlotte has come–and we’re so deeply grateful for your support. This amazing milestone was only possible because of wonderful supporters just like you. You’ve given Charlotte a real chance at a future–wild and free in the forest!
We can’t wait to see how Charlotte settles into island life, and we look forward to sharing her progress with you. Next stop for Charlotte–the wild!
Thank you for being part of her journey ๐ ๐งก
