Leaving a Gift in your Will to The Orangutan Project is one of the most powerful (and practical!) ways you can help us secure the survival of Critically Endangered orangutans.
Your Gift will be carefully used to protect Critically Endangered orangutans and to secure, restore and patrol their rainforest habitat so they can live safe, wild and free, in secure populations. What a legacy!
Of course, leaving a Gift in your will is a very personal decision and you should look after your loved ones first.
Once this provision has been made, it is possible to include a Bequest to The Orangutan Project in a number of different ways:
“I've left a Gift in my Will to The Orangutan Project. I believe it behoves us not to allow any animal to lose its natural habitat or go extinct because of our actions. Orangutans have every right to live safe, wild and free in their rainforest habitat. I feel at peace knowing my legacy will help The Orangutan Project make that happen, for the generations to come.”
Cynthia, Queensland, Australia
Below we’ve included the wording you can use to include The Orangutan Project in your Will. You can nominate The Orangutan Project, or either of our two sister projects - International Tiger Project and International Elephant Project.
You can also choose to leave your Gift to our parent organisation, Wildlife Conservation International so that your legacy supports the survival of Critically Endangered orangutans, elephants and Sumatran tigers!
All three Projects are registered Australian charities and our ABN is 92 607 879 345.
Because wills are technical documents it's best to seek legal assistance to ensure they are correctly worded. Suggested clauses to discuss with your estate planner are below.
"(A) I give to The Orangutan Project (TOP), or any corporation to which TOP'S registration is voluntarily transferred under the Corporations Act 2001(Corporations Act), the sum of $........... [or………%] of my estate, free of State and Federal duties, for general use.
(B) If the gift in (A) cannot take effect completely or at all, to the extent that it cannot take effect, I give it to the charitable organisation or organisations in Australia which my executors consider most nearly fulfils or fulfil the objects I intend to benefit.
(C) The receipt of the treasurer, secretary or public officer for the time being of the beneficiary organisation is an absolute discharge to my executor(s)."
